TM 9-2320-366-34-3 16-35. M1089 BOOM MID SECTION AND TELESCOPIC CYLINDER REPLACEMENT/ ADJUSTMENT (CONT) (10) Extend telescopic cylinder (4) base shaft fully and fly section approximately two feet. WARNING Telescopic cylinder weighs approximately 240 lbs (109 kgs). Attach a suitable lifting device prior to installation. Failure to comply may result in injury to personnel. NOTE Step (11) requires the aid of an assistant. (11) Install telescopic cylinder (4) in boom mid section (7). (12) Apply sealing compound to threads of screw (10). (13) Position cylinder retainer bar (11) in boom mid section (7) with screw (10). (14) Tighten screw (10) to 72-78 lb-ft (98-106 N m). WARNING • Boom mid section and telescopic cylinder combined weigh approximately 510 lbs (231 kgs). Attach suitable lifting device prior to installation. Failure to comply may result in injury to personnel or damage to equipment. • Attach a guide rope to boom mid section and telescopic cylinder during installation. Failure to comply may result in injury to personnel or damage to equipment. NOTE Step (15) requires the aid of an assistant. (15) Install boom mid section (7) in boom base section (8) as far as possible. (16) Remove cargo sling and guide rope from boom mid section (7). 16-200
