Pulley damper is damaged. 27 Semiannual ALTER- NATOR PULLEY Inspect alternator pulley for dents, nicks, and cuts in flanges. Pulley is damaged to the point that it affects belt wear. 28 Semiannual ALTER- NATOR BRACK- ETS a. Check for loose or cracked mounting hardware on alternator bracket and alternator pulley. a. Alternator bracket or idler pulley is cracked or loose. b. Check idler pulley for dents, nicks, and cuts in flanges. b. Pulley is damaged to the point that it affects belt wear. 29 Semiannual ALTER- NATOR DRIVE BELTS Check alternator drive belts for cracks, frays, and shiny spots. Any drive belt has more than one crack 1/8 in. (0.3 cm) in depth or 50 percent of belt thickness, any fray more than 2 in. (5.1 cm) long, or has excessive play. 2-36
