(2) Check steering shaft and tie rods for damage, and loose or missing mounting hardware. Refer to Appendix H to lubricate tie rods. (3) Grasp the steering gear shaft and ensure there is no up and down play. (4) Grasp the tie rod and ensure there is no up and down or sideways play.
