Overhaul of Crankcase Assembly a. General. (1) The crankcase assembly consists of those parts that are machined with the crank- case. They include main bearing caps, oil seal housing, oil seal housing cap, and oil seal housing support. (2) The engine name plate (fig. 6-4), located on the left side of the crankcase, contains the engine serial No., timing data, and valve set- tings. Any modifications to this information or addition of overhaul and modification kit data must be incorporated either on the engine name plate or on a modification tag mounted on a designated location elsewhere on the engine.
