Difference Between Piston Actuated and Mechanical Fan Drive Clutch The basic difference between the piston actuated and mechanical fan drive clutch is the redesign of the late clutch to eliminate the hydraulic disengagement feature. The mechanical design provides complete in- terchangeability between piston actuated and mechanical housing and cover assemblies.
