Specified testing required for the engine is contained in WP 0047 00. 4. Painting, Refinishing, and Marking. a. Only those items that cannot be painted after final assembly will be painted during rework and/or assembly operations. b. Cadmium-plated hardware, bolts, nuts, etc. will be stripped and replated only if the original coating shows signs of deterioration. c. Zinc and/or magnese-phosphated parts will be stripped and reprocessed only if signs of deterioration of the coating are evident. d. Pretreatments (MIL-C-5541E) on exterior surfaces of aluminum will be applied prior to final paint if excessive corrosion is evident. PRESERVATION AND PACKAGING 1. General. Detailed packaging instructions shall be obtained from the Army Central Logistics Data Bank (ACLDB). If detailed packaging instructions are not provided in the ACLDB, the DARCOM Packaging Storage, and Containerization Center (Tobyhanna Army Depot, ATTN: SDSTO-TP-P, Tobyhanna, PA 18466) should be contacted by the performing depot. If work is performed by a contractor, the contracting officer should be contacted for detailed packaging instruction. Directions for applying precautionary markings to containers shall be included. 2. Methods and Materials. Methods and materials used in preservation and packaging, unless otherwise specified in the contract/work directive, shall be in accordance with material specifications, standard packing provisions, detailed packaging data sheets, MIL-STD-2073-1D. NOTE DD Form 1397 shall be completed at the time of processing to assure accomplishment and to indicate deprocessing requirements at time of issue. MARKING INSTRUCTIONS Marking of equipment for storage and shipment shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129N. SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS Equipment shall be prepared for shipment as instructed in Preservation and Packaging above. Shipment shall be accomplished in accordance with terms of contract/work directive.
