NMWR 9-2815-220 ENGINE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OVERHAUL—Continued 0042 00 Table 3. Overhaul Inspection Procedure for Engine Starter Relay-Solenoid (OIP 5X7EG1) (Item 8, Figure 1)—Continued. QA NO. REF. CHARACTERISTIC INSP. REQUISITE REQ. LTR. METHOD Function – the module shall operate as follows: Battery voltage sensing. When a dc voltage of 34 to 12.75 volts is applied to pin A (positive) and the case is grounded, continuity shall be provided between pins B and D. A nominal closure of 500, ± 50 milliseconds may occur when dc voltages between 11.75 and 0) are applied to pin A. After the time delay (500 MS) the continuity between pins B and D shall be interrupted if the voltage at pin A does not exceed and remain above the set point of 12.25 ± .50 volts dc. If continuity has been interrupted, it can only be re-established and maintained by removing and reapplying power to pin A in excess of the set point. Voltage fluctuations during the initial 500 MS time delay shall not cause continuity to be interrupted between pins B and D, provided the voltage at pin A remains above 5 volts. Voltage interruption caused by starter switch bounce up to 6 milliseconds maximum duration during the 500 millisecond time delay shall not cause continuity to be interrupted between pin B and D. Generator voltage sensing. When a voltage above 17.0 ± 1.0 volts dc is applied to pin C continuity between pins B and D shall be prevented. If continuity has been interrupted, it can only be re-established and maintained by removing power from pin A and C and reapplying power to pin A in excess of set point. 0042 00-8 Change 1
