General. a. Adequate safety precautions will be provided for performing any maintenance, overhaul, or repair operations. The precautions will cover the work environment, equipment usage, and performance procedures. Final inspection will assure equipment compliance with applicable safety standards. b. Serious injury may occur at any time. Read FM 21-11 for information on first aid before an accident happens. WARNING Air under pressure is used in the overhauling of this equipment. Serious injury may result when compressed air comes in contact with human skin or causes flying metal chips. Operating personnel and others in the immediate area should observe safety precautions. Wear safety glasses or goggles. WARNING Compressed air used for cleaning purposes will not exceed 30 psi. Use only with effective chip guarding and personnel protective equipment (goggles/shield, gloves, etc.) WARNING Toxic gases from burning teflon items may produce serious injury. Do not discard by burning the teflon seal rings used in the overhaul of this equipment. WARNING Combustible material - close control of magnesium dust is necessary to prevent explosions and/or fire in such operations as brushing, sanding, grinding, etc. Small particles of magnesium are readily combustible. engine oil or nd Bolts.
