NMWR 9-2815-220 SHROUDS, AIR DEFLECTORS, AND COOLING FANS, VANES, AND 0025 00 HOUSING OVERHAUL—Continued Figure 1. Testing Blade Erosion With Gage Superimposed on Fan Rotor Blade. 0025 00-2 Change 1 DISASSEMBLY Disassemble shrouds, air deflectors, and cooling fans, vanes, and housing in accordance with TM 9-2815-220-34. CLEANING Refer to WP 0005 00 for general cleaning instructions. INSPECTION 1. Inspect components not covered by an OIP in accordance with WP 0005 00. 2. Refer to WP 0005 00 and the OIP’s in Table 1 for specific inspection criteria for selected items. 3. Discard all mandatory replacement parts. Refer to Figure 2. 4. Shrouds and Plates. Inspect engine and transmission shrouds and associated parts and cylinder deflectors and plates for damaged, bent, or cracked condition. Replace badly broken shrouds or plates. 5. Fans. Inspect cooling fans for cracks using dye penetrant method. A radial crack in the area of a bolt hole is sufficient cause for replacement of the fan. Replace cooling fans that have bent, broken, or warped blades or when bolt holes are elongated or show evidence of wear. Inspect fan blades using fan rotor gage. Align fan rotor gage with trailing edge of fan blade as shown in Figure 1. Replace fan when erosion of the leading edge of any blade becomes hidden by gage.
