Full-Body Garment Worn by Military Aviators
A flight suit is a full-body garment, worn while by military aviators when flying military aircraft such as airplanes, gliders and helicopters. Flight suits are generally made to keep the wearer warm, as well as being practical with an abundance of pockets, and durable as well as fire retardant. Storage Pockets are generally secured with zips to prevent objects from exiting pockets during flight. Its appearance is similar to a jumpsuit and flight suits are often called coveralls. A military flight suit has facility to affix insignia for name and rank. The flight suit is designed with its possible use as a combat uniform in close quarters battle or visit, board, search, and seizure situations. The NATO Supply Group for clothing is NSG 84. Flight Suits for Men are classified in NATO Supply Class NSC 8415 for special purpose clothing. Flight Suits for Women are classified in NATO Supply Class NSC 8410 for women's outerwear.
