FEDLOG is the NSN Search Service provided online via web by the Defense Logistics Information Service (DLIS) which is part of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) of the US Government's Department of Defense (DOD). The official FEDLOG NSN Search service is not public and access is restricted to DLA, Military Services, and United States Government Sponsored Contractors doing business with the US Government.

Fed Log® is a Restricted Service from the US Government requiring a fedlog login, but there are other access methods to search the NATO Logistics Database which are Unrestricted, but do not provide access to sensitive and classified information as provided in the army fedlog. For example, webflis is kind of a Fedlog Lite.

Since the conversion of WebFLIS® to a Restricted Service, an alternate method of access to FLIS has been launched, a downloadable tool called PUBLOG available from DLIS. WEBFLIS was a public accessible portal to search for unclassified data about National Stock Numbers whereas FEDLOG has always been access-controlled and containes sensitive and classified data about NSN.

The Federal Logistics Database (FEDLOG), is a data set published by the US Government's Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) monthly online and on CD-ROM and DVD (although these are being phased out). It can be used by engineering, technical research, provisioning, procurement/contracting, supply, cataloging, maintenance, distribution, storage, transportation, quality assurance and disposal personnel to retrieve management, part/reference number, supplier, Commercial And Government Entity (CAGE), freight, Interchangeability and Substitutability (I&S) and characteristics information recorded against National Stock Numbers (NSNs). FED LOG® also provides service unique data for additional search capabilities. FEDLOG contains sensitive data such as specifications and confidential data provided by manufacturers as well as classified information on items of supply whereas Webflis only provides unclassified, non-sensitive, unlimited distribution data on NSNs.

What is FEDLOG used for?
FED LOG is used by logisticians, engineering support activities, provisioning, procurement/contracting, supply, maintenance, distribution, storage, transportation, quality assurance and disposal personnel to retrieve key elements and management data from routine daily research to weapons system support analysis.

The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has stopped production and distribution of the FEDLOG DVD and has moved to the digital download method of FEDLOG Data delivery. This change will reduce operating costs for the US Army by making the FEDLOG Data available 24/7 via download from FEDMALL and Army Knowledge Online (AKO).FEDLOG is now available as a free downloadable product using FedMall.
Who Can Access FEDLOG?
FED LOG is published monthly and is a product restricted For Official Use Only (FOUO) and only available to NATO and NATO Sponsored Countries, Federal and Civilian Agencies, Government Contractors and Department of Defense.

How often is FEDLOG updated?
The FLIS system is updated multiple times a day and WebFLIS accesses the FLIS Database in near Real-Time making WebFLIS information more current than what might be found on commercial websites, PUBLOG installations and FEDLOG installations.
What is DoDAAC in the Navy?
The Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DoDAAC) is a six-position code that uniquely identifies a unit, activity, or organization that has the authority to requisition, contract for, receive, have custody of, issue, or ship government-owned assets, or fund/pay bills for materials and/or services.
How do I download FEDLOG from AKO?
All Army personnel have an AKO account, so no additional permissions are necessary. Once signed in, select Menu, select SITES DIRECTORY and scroll to FEDLOG or FEDLOG LITE. Users will have the option to download a complete version of FEDLOG or a Lite version that omits CAGE, History and Characteristics Data.
What is the FLIS Database?
WebFLIS or FLIS data is the Defense Logistic Agency's (DLA) searchable military nsn database on supply items for all branches of the military and government. WebFLIS includes detailed information such as the National Stock Number or NSN of an item, the items name, manufacturer and supplier.
What is a DoDAAC number?
The Department of Defense Activity Address Code (DoDAAC) is a six-position code that uniquely identifies a unit, activity, or organization that has the authority to requisition, contract for, receive, have custody of, issue, or ship government-owned assets; or fund/pay bills for materials and/or services.
How do I get a NSN assigned?
It starts with a Warfighter need for an item which generates an order. The order is typically submitted using a manufacturer's reference number on a DD Form 1348-6, through the DOD Component supply system. It is at the discretion of the DOD Component to determine the need for NSN assignment.
How do I get a FedMall account?
Visit the Supplier Portal at FedMall Suppliers Portal. Click the “Enter Supplier Portal” button. Read and accept the standard notice and consent. Select your certificate and enter your pin, if prompted.
How do I become a vendor on FedMall?
To become a FedMall Supplier, you must have a long term federal contract that FedMall is able to support.

How do I sell on FedMall?
Step 1: GSA vendor registration. To start selling your products and/or services on FedMall you must be properly registered.
Step 2: Prepare to sell on FedMall. After all prerequisites are met you can register at FedMall Supplier Portal.

Is DODAAC same as CAGE Code?
DoDAAC data identifies the purposes for which a contractor has the code. CAGE just identifies the contractor.

How do I access fedlog?
FED LOG® is now available for FREE as a download from DOD EMALL
To download go to the DOD EMALL site at https://dod.emall.dla.mil/acct/. If you do not have a DOD EMALL account, one can be obtained by selecting the login/register button at the top of the home screen and following the directions.
Once you have an account and log in you will find the FED LOG® under the "Tools" drop down at the top of the page.
At the FED LOG® download page there are two options, FED LOG® Complete and FED LOG® lite.
FED LOG® Complete is the same product as what is received on the disc.
FED LOG® Lite does not contain Characteristics, CAGE, or History data, and is designed for faster download.
How do I download fedlog?
To download, follow the directions on the webpage. Once downloaded it operates the same as if you had performed a complete install of the disc on your computer.
This download file is updated the first of every month. You MUST go in and download the product each month to keep the data current.

The FED LOG® application has a new look and feel and comes with many new features. FED LOG® now has a scroll format that replaces the tabs used to navigate the data. This makes FED LOG® compatible with a multitude of platforms, as it is scalable to the screen size for the user. The data sets in FED LOG® remain the same. Users now have the ability to enter data (e.g. NSN, NIIN, Part Number, and CAGE Code) into a single search bar.This function provides output data to assist in the logistician’s research. The filter feature allows users to select service specific management data elements. Users with a 64-bit computer are able to access both versions while users with a 32-bit computer will receive the old version only. Federal Logistics (FED LOG®) data provide users the ability to access Federal Logistics Information System (FLIS) data during instances when internet connectivity is non-available. FED LOG® provides essential information about items of supply to include the National Stock Number (NSN), the Approved Item Name, Manufacturers and Distributors information (to include Part Numbers), Freight Data, Hazardous Materiel Indicators, Interchangeable and Substitutable data, Acquisition Advice Code (AAC) and Unit Price, Physical and Performance Characteristics along with service specific management data. FED LOG® is available by subscription in a five disc CD-ROM set and/or a DVD that contains all program and data from the CD-ROM set.
