The Castolon Unit Consists Of A Campground, Staff Housing, And A Historic District Consisting Of A General Store And Visitor Bathroom. The Water System Is Supplied By Two Wells, One Of Which Is Failing. The Water Is Distributed Through A Municipal Style Distribution System With 6 Inch Diameter Water Mains Supplying Fire Flows To Fire Hydrants And Fire Suppression Systems. The Campground And Historic District Receive Domestic Pressure From Elevated Water Storage. The Housing Area Is At The Same Elevation As The Storage Tanks And Pressure And Fire Flows Are Supplied By Domestic Pressure And Fire Pumps. The Water Quality Has A Primary Drinking Water Standard Exceedance For Fluoride Of 2.5 Mg/L And A Secondary Exceedance For Sulfate Of 500 Mg/L. Currently Water Is Treated At Two Locations, The Campground For Visitor Use And The Maintenance Building For Staff Use, By Filtration And Reverse Osmosis. As Part Of This Project Its Desired To Supply Treated Water For The Staff Housing To Eliminate The Inconvenience Of Hauling Water. Unfortunately The Current Permit Does Not Allow For Under Sink Point Of Use Treatment. The A&E Shall Prepare Necessary Documents To Allow For Point Of Use Treatment, Or Other Solution, Acceptable To The Texas Commission On Environmental Quality (Tceq) Drinking Water Division.
