Large-Scale, Swept-Wing Test Articles Fabrication Research And Test Support For Nasa Icing Research Tunnel. Under The Auspices Of The Atmospheric Environment Safety Technologies Project Of Nasa's Aviation Safety Program, Research Is Being Directed At Understanding Ice Accretion And Aerodynamic Effects For Large-Scale Swept Wings. Nasa Is Planning To Conduct A Series Of Icing Tests In The Irt To Characterize Ice Formations On Large-Scale Swept Wings Representative Of Modern Commercial Transport Airplanes. The Ultimate Goal Of The Icing Tests Is To Generate Representative Ice Accretion On Swept Wings That Can Be Used For Subsequent Aerodynamic Evaluation In Other Experimental Facilities And For Validation Of Ice-Accretion Prediction Codes.
