The Improved Ballistic Eyewear (IBE) Spectacle is a system consisting of a spectacle and a goggle. It is a product improvement from the previously fielded Military Eyewear Protection System (MEPS) with improved durability, fit, and comfort. The IBE Spectacle is the Eye Safety System (ESS) Crossbow™. Additionally, units may requisition any eyewear listed on the Army's Authorized Protective Eyewear List (APEL).
Features:
The IBE is designed to protect Marines against sun, wind, dust, and ballistic fragmentation hazards that are common in the battle space. The eyewear can be worn during the day and night. The IBE offers anti-fog capability, increased field of vision, and ballistic fragmentation protection for the eye. The Crossbow spectacle is compatible with the Universal Prescription Lens Carrier (UPLC) for corrective vision inserts.
